Transcript – A New Stable Fracture Mechanics Test: Application to PMMA

Hello, everyone, my name is Dinakar from the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering from the College of Engineering. So the title of our poster is a new stable structure mechanics test with application to PMMA. My collaborators on this project include Dr. Srinivasa from the Department of Mechanical Engineering and also Dr. Ashlee Watts was from the Department of a Large Animal Clinical Sciences from the College of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

As the title implies, the project presents a new factor primarily for brittle materials to produce stable fractures and stable cracks, which is typically not possible to achieve in conventional testing methods like bending or tension, where the material usually fails in a catastrophic manner. We have demonstrated this technique using the PMMA and the poster presents the details of how the fracture test works and also some preliminary observations with this material. I hope you enjoyed the poster. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me at the email below. Thank you very much.
