Engineering Nanomedicine for Non-invasive Cancer Therapy

Shiren Wang, Roland R Kaunas, Fadi Khasawneh, Robert Y Tsai, Zi Jing Wong, Karen L Wooley

Brain tumors are very aggressive and notoriously difficult to treat. The National Cancer Institute data indicates that a glioblastoma multiforme (GBM) patient has an average life expectancy of 14.2 months. The objective of this X-grant is to engineer novel smart personalized nanomedicines for non-invasive treatment of brain tumors with high-selectivity and high-efficacy. This work is a translation research on the development of novel anti-cancer therapies that bridges both engineering and medicine and will lay down a solid foundation for future clinic practices in improving the survival rate and life quality of cancer patients.
